How many motorcycle makers in China?

Everyday as I browse the web, I turn up new Chinese motorcycle makers.

How many motorcycle makers are there in China? My own wild guess is something in the 100s. Anyone has data or know where to find data?

Taking a hint from the automotive industries, we should expect to see consolidation and acquisation. Who knows, we may even see a Chinese acquisation of a well-known international brand, like the purchase of Rover.

Ronaldo and Rivaldo selling Motorcycle

Ronaldo and Rivaldo selling MotorcycleChinese motorcycle makers, while not as well known are starting to spend big to promote their brand.

Drop by the website of Guangzhou Haojin Group and you will find Brazilian soccer stars Ronaldo and Rivaldo posing and similing on a Haojin motorcycle.

Soccer is a very popular sport among the men in China and many countries in the world. So I guess it make some sense to get them as motorcycle brand ambassadors.

If you have the patience, try to understand what they are saying in their company introduction.

After spending so much money getting the soccer stars, one wonders why they do not bother to get a good copy writer.

Harley-Davidson Enters China

The latest buzz in the motorcycle circle, at least in China, is that Harley-Davidson had just opened its first shop in China, Beijing.

The excitement may soon be forgotten as they come face to face with the reality of China. Do not expect to see any people cruising around China on a Harley very soon except for some crazy lauwai willing to fork out the ransom.

Ask BMW. They are apparently handled by the same distributor, FHL, the only one that is smiling to the bank.

Schee’s target is to take part in the 2009 Paris-Dakar Rally. Wish him success!

He talks alot about motor travelling as well as other topics. But unless you read chinese, you will have to settle with some of the nice pictures he had created to express his love for his girlfriend. Sweet.
