An inquiry into Motorcycle
Benelli motorcycles was established in Pesaro, Italy, in 1911.
Here is another company that got acquired. This time by motor Group Qianjiang which is a corporation located in southeast China at Wenling, 480 km from Shanghai.
I should find out more of this Qianjiang group. It is amazing how many big China company stayed unheard of, especially one that brought an Italian motorcycle brand.

Royal Enfield was originally a motorycycle brand of the English Enfield Cycle Company. The company dissolved in 1970 but the name was acquire former licencee based in India and continues to be used today.
Did you know that? Not me. The name sounded so English and I alway associated it with the Enfield rifle with the original company did produce. Little did I know it is an India company.

Sachs is a German manufacturer of motorcycles, mopeds, motorized bicycles and ATVs.
Tracing its history back to 1859 which it was founded by Ernst Sach.
Today the drivetrain and chassis division and the motorcycle division are owned by different owner.
Sachs Fahrzeug- und Motorentechnik GmbH, the company making motorcycle is acquired in 2006 by New Superior Ltd., a subsidiary of a Hong Kong based group. 99.5% of the company was taken over.
Motorcycle making is indeed a tough business. Look at Voxan and MZ as well.

MZ which stands for Motorrad- und Zweiradwerk GmbH, is a motorcycle maker located in Zschopau Germany.
Do you know that Zschopau factory are is one of the oldest motorcycle factories in the world, producing motorcycles since 1922. The company history can be traced to 1906.
MZ was one of the few producers that made motorcycles with sidecars. (who else?)
Note the the company was brought Malaysian Hong Leong group in 1996. (Side note: The Malaysia Hong Leong group is different from the Singapore Hong Leong group though they frequently appear in the same market.)

Voxan is a France motorcycle company established in 1995. That’s very recent in motorcycle time. And you didn’t know the French build motorcycle right.
Interesting to note that all Voxan motorcycles use the same engine, which is unique in its design. However you don’t learn much from their website since they are in French.
Voxan had a hard time completing in a motorcycle market dominated by Japanese and Italian (And now Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean). In June 2002, Didier Cazeaux and Société de Développement et de Participation bought Voxan to ensure its continuity.

First of all, let me say I have nothing for or against women riders. It is just it.
To me, the reason women riders are identify is simply because motorcycling is so predominantly a man’s activity so lady riders draw attention.
