Husqvarna, a ‘q’ not followed by ‘u’ is certainly not English. A Swedish company, is was sold to Cagiva in 1987. So the brand is Italian now.

Interestingly, the former employees of Husqvarna started another brand, Husaberg. Husaberg was then acquired by KTM, an Austria company.

Still on Italian motorcycle brands. This time Cagiva.

Cagiva is reatively small by global standard but they make nice, power bike. My personal favourite is the Planet 125.

Cagiva Planet 125 is one of the very few motorcycle below 200cc that has a stunning look. For countries where new riders can only ride bikes of a smaller capacity, this IS the dream bike.

Are they still making this bike? It is not on the website anymore

Italian Motorcycle Makers

As I was looking around at motorcycle websites, I realised that a number of well-known motorcycle brands are from Italy.

We just met Ducati in the last post and also Moto Guzzi. You must have also heard of Aprilia, Cagiva, Paiggio and Vespa.

I not sure about other part of the world, from where I came from the typical stereotype of different motorcycle makers are as follows.

The Italian bikes are known for their heart stopping design and pricy price. Japanese bikes for their cost and fuel efficiency. BMW for technology and Harley for the bad boy, rebel image.

Will take a look at them soon.
