Riders in Japan

More precisely bloggers that ride in Japan. (Or is it riders that blog in Japan?)

Meet Gaijin Riders Bikers and Riding Sun.

Very interesting names. Gaijin means foreigner in Japanese (see wikipedia for full discussion) very similar to what the Chinese called 老外 (laowai).

Japan of course is home to the 4 of the biggest names in motorcycle. What is it like for a Gaijin riding in the land of rising sun?

Check them out.

Bike Blog: Hunting The Snark

Hunting The SnarkBikes and Girls. That’s like a perpetual lethal combination ever since there was motorcycle.

Of course you wouldn’t think that’s the only content worth reading on this blog by Mohan. His readers certainly ride some nice bikes.

Mohan hails from Malaysia. One thing for sure, it’s nice to meet a rider nearer home. I wonder if there is any motorcycle bloggers in Singapore. Perhaps busy chasing after cars.

From web journal to a book

Cecilie over at Cecilie’s Motorcycle Journal is considering publishing a book based on her web journal. Her journal starts all the way from December 2001, almost 5 years of writing! A very impressive achievement.

I just filled up her survey and if you are a regular reader, remember to pop by and fill it too.

Tim Kreitz’s The Superbike Blog

Are you into motorcycle racing and Superbike? You might want to check out Tim Kreitz’s The Superbike Blog.

It is a pity that here in China, blogspot.com is blocked. Yes, I cannot access any site on blogspot, normally. Of course there are ways around and so I’m able to visit some good motorcycles blog there and learn a thing or two.

The Superbike Blog

Tim is a Kawasaki nut and know his bike stuff especially when it comes to superbikes. Read his review of RV1000 from Roehr Motorcycles, a company I had not heard before.

He is also a riding instructor ,so you get insight from his accident and have him shaking his head at neophyte riders onoutrageously powerful machines.

If you are a new superbike riders, you will also find his tips useful.

Till we ride again.

Motorcycle Blog: Forty Years On Two Wheels

It is a pity that Blogspot is blocked by the Great Firewall. There are many motorcycle blogs on blogspot.

Today I am visiting Forty Years On Two Wheels.

Imagine that, 40 years on 2 wheels (he started at 12)! I’m barely 20% there. You?

When I get a chance I will ask how many years my father-in-law (to-be) had been riding his motorcycle.

All riders have something to tell right after dismounting from their first ride. So when you had been riding for 4 decades, you have lots to tell.

Take a page from a yester-year magazine or turn up some motorcycle art.

Ride over and say “hi”, you might just dig up a piece of relic from his blog.

Motorcycle Blog: Helmet Hair

Recently I was invited to join a group of motorcycle bloggers from around the world. Until now I had not have the chance to visit each biker’s blog.

Today, I’m start with a visit to Helmet Hair.

Helmet Hair

“Wearing a motorcycle helmet tends to mess up one’s hair. Removing the helmet usually leaves hair sticking out in all directions. This is called helmet hair … “

Reading that most bikers will chuckle and identify readily with shared experience.

Having being in Copenhagen for a while, my impression is motobikers there are a passionate lot. Big bikes dominates, no one is interested in anything below 500cc.

Why? There, not many people buy a motorcycle for transportation reason alone. For that they could buy a bicycle, take public transport or buy a car. But buying a motorcycle means something else. Very unlike countries where motorcycle is a means of transport. ( I should expand on this topic in future.)

Jesper, do you do test ride for living? Look at the number of test ride he did. In my 8 years I had only ridden a fraction of that.

Before we go, here’s an interesting maintenance tip from Jesper.

So, ride over to Helmet Hair.
